Essential Files to Enhance Off - Line Flying.

Links to required files to enhance your off-line flying experience

Please find detailed below the file links I think you all should have, that will give you access to a whole new world of flying Off-line.

    • World of A.I. For A.I aircraft and airlines, that you can install to help brighten up airports and give them a real buzz / environment feeling, World of A.I ( known as WOAI ) can be found here, it’s a simple matter of installing there own unique installer and then downloading and installing those airlines you want. At present there at 241 packages to choose from, namely 184 airlines, 26 cargo packages, 6 GA packages and 26 military packages !!

    • Project A.I. An alternative is to go to PAI or Project AI. This was the first breakthrough group to enable people to add airline packages, It is in my opinion a little tired and jaded now, but still offers some airlines not available at WOAI…Only for Fs9 Go here.

    • FP_FS9_FSX This small program checks/converts flight plans made for FS9 for the existence of airports which are not anymore in FSX or has been changed. It can convert all your traffic BGL files at once. This a must have for those of you who are or want to use WOAI packages in FSX.

    • AFCAD is a tool held in the utmost high regard by simmers and modellers as it gave you the opportunity for the very first time to create your own airports as well as amend the existing ones in Fs9. Now airports could have their runways, taxiways, parking slots all amended, deleted or added. It also allows you to change or move or assign ILSs or VORs. This is one programme you must ensure you read the manual first, before dabbling with Fs9. Unfortunately the inventor Lee Swordy has not continued to develop it so it will not work with FSX. But do not despair as there is a similar product available for FSX which I will detail below. Go here for AFCAD it’s the third file down..

    • ADE or Airport Design Editor does the same job as AFCAD but has had a few more bells and whistles added, given people have obviously learnt more from AFCAD and have been given the opportunity to do so with this package for FSX !! Again it’s a powerful programme and one to read the manual before you go tampering around with the airports in FSX…

    • TTools is a utility that gives you the ability to put together your own airline bgl file to enable it to be flown inside Fs9. This small but clever little tool decompiles and recompiles the traffic bgl file into three separate entities, namely an aircraft list, a airport list and a flight plan. Therefore if you can put these together from separate sources on the net ( avsim, flightsim.com ) you can use TTools to compile the data and create a traffic bgl file for you to install and see your own airlines flying inside Fs9 !! Its available here, scroll towards the bottom of the page !

    • Editvoicepack. Having loaded up all this new aircraft and airlines its important that when tuned into Flight Simulators ATC you can hear them calling out the correct Airline name, its call sign and the new airport names. How do we do this ? By adding to the exsisting sound files and this can be done with this unique little utility called Editvoicepack. It will download the current sound file break it apart to show you what airline names, airports and call signs are currently loaded and then you upload the new files into editvoice and it will move them into the master sound file ! A very clever and useful utility, but one in which you must be careful to ensure you create backups before you go tampering. Editvoicepack can be found here.

    • A.I Smooth. Having gotten all these airlines loaded onto your pc and flying in Fs9 or FSX you will need to ensure you can have some sense of order when they come to their respective airports to land, otherwise they will start to stack up on each other and you will end up with them all doing go-arounds due to traffic on the runway. This little tool called AI-Smooth will help greatly, it enables you to control the timing and spacing among all aircraft landing at an airport and ensures if you are lined up for finals someone does not cut you off at the last possible moment causing you to slam the throttles forward and having to join the go-around party ! Its available from here

    • Scan AFD A nice little utility that allows you to check for duplicate AFCAD files in FS9

Hopefully this will be enough to get you started on ensuring off-line flying is just as enjoyable as on-line !!
