Server Restore Status
« on: Sun, 26 Apr 2015, 16:27:50 »
The status of bringing things back on-line appears below...

Done...
TeamSpeak Server - Fully operational. Permissions granted since the last outage have almost certainly been lost - please let me know if this is the case.
Fly-In Server - Fully operational to the state it was in before the outage.
BFSG Proxy for X-Plane pilots (server hosted version)
Web Server (required for weather, maps and server status)
Fly-in Map (accessed through clicking on the server name in the "Fly-in Server Status" box at the bottom on the right).
BFSG Weather Service
ServInfo Interface (don't know if anyone still uses this, but it's back online!)

To Do...

Everything else I've forgotten was on there!

Good work Andy.

I think this highlights a problem though - without you (and Pete I guess) we would be screwed regards the server.  Have you considered sharing some of this work load with others in the group?  I think sharing your fixes to others prepared to learn about the server would provide some backup to the group and save you spending your weekends fixing the problems.  Maybe something to discuss at the next meeting.

Phil,

You're right, of course...

With the right files being backed up on a regular basis (and there are only four I think), then bringing the server back online is probably something which anyone with a bit of knowledge could do. From an empty server, I reckon (having done it this weekend) that with the right tools available locally it would be possible to bring the whole thing back online in around four hours.

I do intend to document the process - probably on our Wiki (perhaps in a protected area of it though) - as always, the challenge is finding the time.

Andy
