Recent Shoreham accident
« on: Wed, 15 Sep 2010, 17:28:32 »
I had a friend who'd paid to have a photo course at this event and he was telling me about this the other day. Amazing photos and I'm happy the guy will recover.

wow!  he enters cool status forever.

If only I'd had someone snapping me as I piled through a hedge upside down, near bath on my shiney Red Ducati circa 1999.

Wowsers ::) ::) ::) I'm glad the guy is OK. Reminds me of that driver who walked away from a horrific crash in Indy Car motorsport not that long ago. The car virtually disintergrated around him and he walked away from it. I think he was British.

Strewth, that looks awful, so glad he's relatively OK and on the mend.

But as one of the commenters says, what was he trying to do to be at THAT angle to the ground that low? In the first pic he has full up elevator, full right rudder, no aileron angle at all, and the brakes out. The latter makes a lot of sense of course, he'd be trying stop, or as much stop as you could in those circumstances. One wheel door is also open, which is odd, and I wonder if he had some controls jam or something.

The deformable structure in the nose seems to have done a pretty good job though.
Regards
Kit
