Pilot, Planner, Navigator, Gofer in that order

« on: March 09, 2010, 15:21:25 PM »

I wonder if some kind person would have a little look at this offering from Thrustmaster and give me/us an opinion as to their worth or not for use in GA/Heavy flying.

http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=168

Could they be used as primary flight MFD's.

Many thanks   Myk

They might be but it wouldn't be that realistic as all the Cougar really simulates is the F16. I have flown a dedicated F16 simulator using this setup and it was v impressive. Sorry Myk that's not very helpful is it?

I have been looking at this item for sometime now
but they are not available in the UK.
Since it seems you can program the buttons and switches
to do what you want, I think it's better than pressing 2 or 3
keys on the standard keyboard at the same time.
CH Products do something along the same lines but a lot more money.

Not for me, if it had a display so when I pressed the buttons I didn't need then to look somewhere completely different to see the result then maybe.

Ok then chaps,,

Duncan,  I am glad you enjoyed an F-16 simulator, and your right it was not helpful, nice try Tongue.

Brian, Yes they, are from Amazon Uk for £70 Grin.

Pete, not quite sure how to read into that of yours, could explain it a little better please Huh.

Have tried to read the manual for these, but it will not download fully as PDF.  So I am still in the dark as to wether they  could be used as primary instruments.

Ah well best laid plans of mice and men,, there was me thinking that this was displays as well, not just a replacement for the keyboard and card board cut-out displays to boot. Cry

Ah well back to the drawing board again, cheers for your various inputs to this chaps. Have to think of something different.
