I shall retain my usual sense of decorum on the subject of mistresses. I feel quite giddy.  Roll Eyes

Sorry I missed the debrief last night, I was called away on urgent DIY business that I'm afraid could not wait.

Thanks to all for a lovely flight.

A quick note this week to say a big "Well Done" to John Jones, his very first briefing was well structured and resulted in a splendid Fly-In.

I only heard Marcus clear the last aircraft in to Nice as I was otherwise engaged on Approach. Tim was quite right to query whether he was cleared to descend on the ILS. Could I remind all pilots that they are not authorised to descend from their last assigned altitude until the have been "Cleared for the ILS". The term "Continue the Approach" is normally only used when a landing clearance cannot be issued, normally because there is another aircraft ahead in the landing stream.

On the other hand I breathed a sigh of relief when Marcus did not clear anybody to "Taxy to a gate of your choice". Yippee - that's one that I may have won.

Other than that, another very successful event with everyone landing first time even if Tony suffered a self inflicted braking disfficulty. Good old Tony, first he knocks down all the bridges along the Potomac, now he wants  to take a trip down the Rue des Anglais.

And here we were thinking that Duncan had been called away by his mistress. Roll Eyes

What can I say? This extract is from a recent thread on another forum -
Quote
Once going to SVMI too, we couldn't get in touch with our ops guys. After we landed, we had no idea which gate we were assigned to. After being handed to ground:

SVMI: TACA Peru 034, taxi to the apron via F, C. What gate are you parking on? (usually ground should know...)
Us: We are not sure, trying to get in contact with our ops center right now
SVMI: Rgr, park at the gate of your choice.

And I said that "Park at a gate of your choice" never happens for real.
We will continue to avoid the use of said phrase by order of Old Grumpy. Angry
