It has been requested that we move Monday night sessions back to a larger field so that our "heavy" cousins might be more inclined to join in. So we've had our fun for now with multiple intersecting runways, varying circuit directions and RNAV approaches outside controlled airspace!

So I thought we'd move back to try Birmingham again. So brush up those Class D airspace procedures and join in on Monday night from 1945Z. Large or small - the more the merrier.

Last night at  'Brum'  was a good session for all, and it was very welcome to see Britannia44 come along and join in the group. It was also welcome of two newbies to come along and have a damn good go at this here ATC lark, we are all getting into the swing of things.  Wink

This of course is all down to the, 'patience of a saint'   Roll Eyes  , Mike and his teaching and methods, of getting into our heads the value and verbalness of ATC.
I for one, am glad of the imparted knowledge that goes with these lessons and sessions, long may they continue.

It was a good night. I think we'll do it again this coming Monday. Any jet IFR flights would be welcome, arriving from the south into GROVE and from the north to CHASE. For the newer VFR flyers, there is a script for ATC interaction that we used at the start - it's in the downloads section, here. It can be simplified for Birmingham by removing the references to VRPs as there aren't any!

There are some interesting airfields round about and some highly detailed FSX freeware scenery for Enstone by the creator of Plan-G. Don't forget that Birmingham Radar can provide a Lower Airspace Radar Service (LARS) up to FL95 within a radius of 40 nm, of Birmingham outside controlled airspace. If you do not wish to use that, a simple "Basic Service" can be requested just giving information relating to the safety of the flight (weather details etc).
