Introduction

Welcome to the Bristol Flight Simulator Group

Based in the east of Bristol (UK) in Downend we are a group of Flight Simulator enthusiasts that meet once a month. Generally the meetings are held on the 4th Sunday of the month from 10am to 2pm, but the Sunday can change due to Bank Holidays and the like. We meet earlier in December for example. Entry is £3.50 to cover the hall rental.

The club is very much an informal group of like minded individuals, there are no annual membership fees and we regularly get 25-30 people to a Sunday meeting. Many regulars bring along their PC or laptop and are often available to help others learn new skills, for demonstration or for some plain old flying. The hall has internet access and we are lucky enough to regularly get one or more VATSIM controllers attend.

Mini Groups

There are often themes to be found that continue from one meeting to the next, currently the major ones are a group learning to fly the PMDG 747 and the group centered around online flying with VATSIM. Some of our members use the gliding facilities offered by the Microsoft Flight Simulator programmes and the 'Condor' gliding simulator. There is a groundswell starting of members interested in the creative side as well with scenery design. There are no fixed structures, the members mould what happens. Come and learn something, or if you're already an expert there will be people keen to learn.

Hardware and Software

The group is heavily biased towards Microsoft's Flight Simulators with a 50/50 split between FS2004 A Century of Flight and the newer FSX. Occasionally someone will be running something else. We are lucky in that Bob from RC Simulations often pays us a visit and usually brings along some new gadget or software that we may be interested in.

Pop In

If you're interested in Flight Simulation, no matter at what level, you are most welcome to come and say hello and join in with our activities; you can find us here. We hope to see you soon.
